The team everyone expected to win the World Championship got knock out at the group stage, so the finals were very unexpected. In the finals were teams Damwon Kia and EDward Gaming. Everyone expected to win Damwon Kia, but EDward Gaming won the match 3-2, and are the newest World Champions.

2020 World Championship
Very new team called Suning got into the finals, against the best team at the time, Damwon Gaming. The final match went 3-1 for Damwon Gaming, but Suning were playing very good. Last years finalist, G2 Esport, got into the semifinals, where they lost against Damwon Gaming 3-1.
2019 World Championship
Last years 3rd placed team, G2 Esports, has made it this year into the finals against FunPlus Phoenix, China´s best team at the time. But unfortunately for Europe, G2 has lost with score 3-0 for FunPlus Phoenix. G2 have never made it into the finals again, but they are still one of the best Europian…
2018 World Championship
Niether of the last year finalist has appeared in this years World Championship, but Fnatic has made it again into the finals. In finals, Fnatic faced Invictus Gaming. Fnatic has lost against them, but has made it very far for Europe. Even G2 Esports has made it far for a Europe team.
2017 World Championship
This year World Championship was almsot similar to last years, except there was 24 teams and not 16. In finals was again SK Telecom T1 against Samsung. But now it was absolute disaster for SK Telecom T1. They got crushed by Samsung, with final score 3-0. Faker, midlaner for SK Telecom T1, cried on stage….
2016 World Championship
This year was battle between Samsung and SK Telecom T1. They both have made it to the finals and fought for the Summoner´s Cup. The series was 5 matches long. When it was 2-2, SK Telecom T1 in a 50 minute long game has won the game, and won the World Championship.
2015 World Championship
New rule that came with the year 2015 was, that for organisations was banned to have 2 teams. For example, last year Samsung had two teams – Blue and White. Now, they could have had just one team. This year was domination of team SK Telecom T1 and they earned their 2nd World Championship.
2014 World Championship
This is the first time, when 16 teams competed in World Championship. The dominant organisation in this year was Samsung, and it´s 2 teams – Samsung Blue and Samsung White. Samsung White has won the Championship, and Samsung Blue shared 3rd place with OMG.
2013 World Championship
More and more Korean teams are joining the professional scene. European and American teams are starting to lose more and more match against the Asians. 2013 was the year, when the dynasty of SK Telecom T1, the most succesful team in League of Legends history, has started.
2012 World Championship
In 2012 was 12 teams in championship, but it wasn´t just a America and Europe anymore. Many Asian regions joined them, like Korea and China. Even prize pool was much bigger than last year. The Taipei Assassins was the team that earned the Summoner´s Cup this year, and won 2012 World Championship and $1,000,000.
